“ Before We Change our Mind” New Music and Live Visuals: A special one off performance._ Main Venue _
Trailblazers in the visual arts collide with one of Ireland’s best known trad super groups. Beoga and Lightscape are at the forefront of their trades, and for one special tour come together to perform a live show of newly composed music against the backdrop of a stunning visual display of projections. Lightscape are the first artists in Europe to use these techniques. The coming together with Beoga is a rare opportunity to see and hear a new imagining of traditional music and a new wave of Irish artistry. The show will travel both North and South, taking in Belfast, Cookstown, Sligo, Galway and Dublin. The visuals created by Lightscape are inspired by Beoga’s newly composed music from their new album “Before We Change our Mind”, and the space and structures of the stage will be transformed into stunning 3D visual installations that make the music come to life. This is a once off tour that will showcases some of Ireland’s leading talents in music and art, and is an exciting new creation that will set the stage alight and delight audiences across the country. — — — — — Who are Beoga?? www.beogamusic.com ‘the best traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century’, The Wall Street Journal. Beoga (gaelic for ‘lively’) are a five-piece band based in County Antrim, Ireland. Formed in 2002, they have become one of the most popular and influential ensembles in modern Irish music. Their unique sound features the twin dueling accordions of Damian McKee and multi-instrumentalist Seán Óg Graham, pianist Liam Bradley and four times All-Ireland bodhrán champion Eamon Murray. In 2005, the lineup was complete, with the addition Niamh Dunne, one of Ireland’s premier young talents, on vocals and fiddle. With fresh new compositions for a 2016 album, along with their unique blend of inventive arrangements, virtuosi instrumental talents and beautiful vocals, Beoga’s popularity continues to flourish as they captivate audiences on a global scale. — — — — — Who are Lightsscape? www.lightscape.ie Brian Kennyis a visual artist and designer whose work focuses on the transformation and manipulation of structures and spaces using digital lighting and projection technologies. http://thedeadheavys.com https://www.facebook.com/thedeadheavysmusic https://twitter.com/thedeadheavys The Dead Heavys, – an understated piece of genius of a band. These guys are full of funk and indie rock vibes, with an infectious splash of the psychedelic and a top notch set of killer lyrics. It’s no surprise that we had to have these guys play a gig for us. Having performed at Electric Picnic, Indiependence, and Croatia’s IN Music festival alongside the Arctic Monkeys and Basement Jaxx (to name but a few), this band was chosen from 800 Guinness Amplify acts by deputy editor at HotPress, Mr Stuart Clark. It has to be said that this band has depth and plays with much style and honesty. Their live shows draw the crowds away from the bars, bringing them into their show, and their warm upbeat funk and indie rock is handed to the listener on a platter. Their delicious sound with brass section is a real palate cleanser, setting this band aside from others as a real thinking music lover’s bit of crumpet. Doing great work at the moment with Jagz Kooner, (who has worked with Primal Scream, the Manic Street Preachers, Oasis, Kasabian, andThe Charlatans to name but a few), this 5 piece Waterford band has new material about to drop and a set of gig details about to announce very soon. We’re certain that if you have not heard these guys live before Apr 21st, that our gig will whet your appetite for more! Championed in the UK by XFM’s Eddy Temple Morris on his popular radio show, and by musicians such as The Enemy’s Tom Clarke & Jon McClure from Reverend & the Makers, here’s just a little taster of some of the feedback so far on The Dead Heavy’s work and craftsmanship: John Robb of Louder Than War – ‘The Dead Heavys deal a psychedelic-tinged guitar-pop that could easily grab a whole stadium full of post oasis fans as well as the charts.’ Frank Hughes of GoldenPlec – ‘The Waterford band’s combination of keys, guitars and vocals evolves into a psychedelic indie stomp that is very easy on the ears. If you haven’t already caught them live, be sure to seek them out soon’ DublinConcerts,ie – ‘Somewhere between bands that attempt to hark back to classic rock days, and hipster bands that simply try too hard to be unique there’s a very slim line that manages to balance both aspirations but in a fantastic and effective manner.’ — — — — —THE MANTELLS

You only have to hear their latest EP “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” to know why we had to have them play for us. BBC Introducing Manchester are big fans, – and it has to be said their live action really is a bit special, having recently played to a packed out Manchester Ritz. With catchy tracks like “Payday Playboys” and “Men In Suits” we know these lads will not only put a smile on your face but a groove in your step too (unless of course there’s something wrong with you). Feedback so far reads like this: Unsigned Scene – “Without a doubt, Manchester’s most exciting new band, powerful live show with tunes to sing along to and get you moving, what more could you ask for?” Alicia A Tout – “You’ve GOT to hear this.” Emerging North – “The Mantells are the future of Manchester music, How To Say It EP is one of my highlights of 2014.”TICKETS

JEFF ROSENSTOCK
plus guestGREAT CYNICS CHEWING ON TINFOIL EMPTY LUNGS
_ Main Venue _ Jeff Rosenstock is trying to edit this bio in the bathroom of a pinball museum on the Jersey shoreline. He’s touring one of five records he was a part of in 2014, a year that opened with a series of farewell shows for Bomb the Music Industry!, his acclaimed band of the last decade, took him to Australia, Japan, and Korea, and ended here, about to release his first proper solo album. We Cool? is expertly-crafted, as perfect and unexpectedly uplifting a collection of songs about debilitating depression could be. From the deceptively subtle introduction of opener “Get Old Forever” to the reinvention of the album’s musical and lyrical themes that elevate finale “Darkness Records,” We Cool? succeeds in building on Rosenstock’s existing body of work while branching out to become his most ambitious and vital release to date. Which, if you’ve been paying attention, is no mean feat. For the past ten years, Rosenstock stood at the helm of Brooklyn-based DIY stalwarts Bomb the Music Industry! – a collective that pioneered pay-what-you-can self-recorded albums, offered hand-created merch for donations and still managed to tour the world. Their final shows were beer-soaked Irish wakes for an international collection of misfits and passionate weirdos. They were huge – like a 1982 cult movie come to consume the drive-in – and then, they were over. After a decade of not only traveling in the same weathered van, but also spent attempting to passionately record densely-layered punk anthems in noisy practice spaces and crowded New York City apartments, Rosenstock was due for a change of scenery. So he went to California. Recorded by Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Deafheaven), whose Bay area Atomic Garden studio played host to Rosenstock’s new band, We Cool? is sonically ambitious, overdriven, and immediate. Along with a band featuring Hard Girls guitarist Mike Huguenor, Bruce Lee Band drummer Kevin Higuchi, and former Bomb bassist John DeDomenici, the foundation of each song was recorded live to tape inside of a day. We Cool? layers its harmonies, organs, and clarinets on top of this energetic, barebones base, recalling earlier melodic motifs or creating massive climaxes that carry the listener through its twelve songs. With additional elements added in the customary New York apartments and parents’ homes that Rosenstock is known for, every song here possesses its own unique character, from the ‘90s post-punk dirge of “I’m Serious, I’m Sorry” to the vintage power-pop of “Hey Allison!.” There’s another, more subtle element that makes We Cool? the clearest distillation of Rosenstock’s songwriting talents – a stark, unadorned lyrical approach that doesn’t mask much of the tumult of the last few years of his life. For him, this is something of a breakup album – a marker of the end of a fulfilling decade-long relationship with the close friends who comprised Bomb the Music Industry! over the years. It’s a lament for not only the band itself, but the community that was built around it. These songs were written with no audience in mind, and that uncertainty left Rosenstock free to be as dark and direct as he needed. Like so many great albums, it can be easy to miss that darkness when you’re caught arm-in-arm with your friends singing yourself hoarse. But like the best albums, nothing is ever that simple, and the soundtrack of last night’s euphoria becomes suddenly introspective in the cold light of the morning. And We Cool? is one of those albums.TICKETS

Using a progressive musical approach in their composition process, the band is mixing the raw energy of Heavy Rock’N Roll & Blues with elements of Swing, Punk, Metal and Drum&Bass to create their own particular sound. The result on stage is a hyperenergetic and theatrical rock show which brings the band and any innocent onlookers together as one in an explosion of energy and an intense moment of fun and freedom. The aptitude of the members to connect with the public when playing live led the band to build up “a solid reputation in the business” (Dave Simpson Pure M Magazine). He released his well received debut EP ‘Placid Ocean’ in September 2014 and has since played a string of high profile gigs including the Breaking Tunes Music Trail, the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival and the MTV Crashes Cork Music Trail. His music blends the sound of an endless summer with an easy going nostalgia to create a repertoire of surf/folk/pop songs that echo Brian Wilson, Syd Barrett and John Lennon. His song writing is steeped in the imagery and atmosphere of a vintage seaside town and his heart breaking melodies, reverb drenched vocals and gentle instrumentation call to mind some of the sadness and beauty of 1960s surf pop. “Seaside sombreness and Beach Boys-esque melodies” (Nialler9) “showcasing a highly personal, unorthodox, take on surf pop” (Kernan Andrews, Galway Advertiser) “A Slowburning Delight” (Hotpress) “Full of twinkly pop gems” (The Irish Mirror) — — — — —TOMORROWS

The band has to date released two EPs ‘Take Shelter From The Stars’ and ‘Not Waving But Drowning’ both recorded by the fantastic Ross O Donovan in Data Studios. ‘Creative intelligence is something that the five-piece Sideproject have in abundance. ‘This Morning I Fell Down and Look at What I Found’ is a floating instrumental so groovy you don’t miss the vocals. Vocalist Tom Kavanagh shows up for ‘Outpatients’ and takes us through a fine song above a sinuous shifting ryhthm and guitars that build up to a regular stormfest. ‘And Each Flame Concealed A Sinner’ is another instrumental also dominated by guitars, but is a heavier, more accented outing, with hints of prog rock in the arrangement, but without that genre’s often pointless pomposity. We need more like them.’ – Jackie Hayden, Hotpress 11/9/08 ‘Sideproject are giving it progressively experimental socks in ALT. The tracks we heard are, much like their fine recent EP, Not Waving But Drowning, gloom-laden with a heart.’ – Johnnie Craig, State Magazine 17/9/08 ‘Not Waving But Drowning’ picks up where their debut EP left off in early 2007 and once again find the group in fine form, weaving rich, delay-laden, snakes-and-ladder like guitar tapestries of post-rock beauty that calls to mind Unwed Sailor and Explosion in the Sky.’ – Graham Lynch, Cork Independent 5/1/08 ‘Sideproject are fast becoming the most talked about rock act on the Leeside…a band which are sure to be one of the success stories of 2008.’ – Nicola-Marie O’ Riordan, Evening Echo 1/2/08TICKETS

Barely, the new album by Krista Detor A collection of songs that are spare, pared-down; the new album utilizes only one or two instruments to give ground to the work.
