“One of 2015’s most clever albums. Barnett specializes in spinning seemingly mundane thoughts and events into sneakily hilarious stream-of-consciousness lyrics — sort of like a less cryptic Stephen Malkmus

J.P. Harris is the real deal. This isn’t your glam country music, with rhinestones and glitter. He’s an ex-gutter punk road warrior making down-home American honky tonk, the way it should be, from both the heart and the bottom of a whiskey bottle.
North Carolina hotshots Woody Pines have wowed the crowds on both sides of the Atlantic and last time they toured over here, reviewers unanimously declared them to be one of the most entertaining acts on the Americana circuit.

DELS album ‘Petals Have Fallen’ is out now via Big Dada/Ninja Tune.
It is an ultra-modern hip-hop masterpiece.
“I met most of the artists and producers that contributed to this album on MySpace back in 2005,” DELS remembers. We had a page called “Loners”, where myself and the likes of Kwes, Micachu, Ghostpoet, Sampha, Coby Sey, Elan Tamara were all featured – way before anybody knew who we were. We always said that we’d do a proper album together eventually. Petals Have Fallen is probably the closest thing to that collaborative album happening to date’ – DELS 2014

Within their configuration of electric guitars, percussion, synths and winds, Alarmist channel their combined backgrounds in post-rock, jazz, electronica and contemporary composition into a unique sound world that pits rhythmic intricacy and twisting melodies against hazy ambience and dense arrangements
Texas-born songwriter, Jarrod Dickenson’s slightly spooky melodies and lyrics invoke a mid-Western post-war America, when cars ran on leaded gas, television hadn’t yet kidnapped the country’s imagination, and men wore hats every day. His reflective lyrics, almost like hand-written letters, remind us that human stories of lost love, sudden fortune, and abiding mystery transcend the decades…and nothing is better or worse right now than it’s ever been
“If you can catch him, you should…he reminds of this cat, Gram Parsons” -Huey Morgan, BBC Radio 2
“A voice like a young Tom Waits…Jarrod Dickenson’s songs are simply breathtaking, possessing melodies many of his peers would give their left arm for.” – No Depression
“An incredible talent” -Janice Long, BBC Radio 2
“Dickenson has a superb, expressive voice…” -Country Music People (5 Star Review)

Once the word got out that singer/songwriter Thom Moore was ill
Having just released his debut album ‘Tickly Teeth’, Samuel Vas-Y is gaining momentum as an original ‘singer song scribbler’. The record was produced by Windmill Lane Studios founder, Brian Masterson. Amongst the musicians involved on the album is Cathy Davey who sings a fun form of duet on the song ‘Creeping and Crawling’.
His song ‘Millionaire of Hours’ was released in South Korea under Rainbowtape Recordings and subsequently appears on an ad for major fashion label Comodo Square. It features American olympian / male model, Race Imboden.
Samuel’s boyhood in France brings influences of Latin music; from Tropicália to Freak-Folk, Serge Gainsbourg to Devendra Banhart, And of course French Samuel Arnold (aka Samuel Vas-Y)
The song entitled ‘Tickly Teeth’ (City Boy EP version), which has over 10,000 views on Youtube, was released on the album ‘Oscar the Hypno Dog: And Other Tails’ alongside the best of contemporary Irish musicians, such as Lisa Hannigan and Villagers. This led to numerous performances including the RTE Late Late Show, Ray D’Arcy Show, Global Village and Arena. The album reached number 4 on the Irish charts. This contact led to wonderful collaborations which Samuel was to work with in the making of his debut album.
Samuel Vas-Y is set to perform at many key events such as Youbloom, Castlepalooza and is playing support for Cathy Davey on her summer tour 2014. Its looking to be a promising year for the singer song scribbler.
PRESS:
Samuel’s music has been described as “an illustrative experience.”* The self-proclaimed singer song scribbler has a “lyrical style that seems to have his tongue slightly in his cheek. This isn’t another ‘oh poor me’ singer song-writer, Samuel let’s his quirks show and this sets him apart. Clever humour and lustrous lyrics”** are enveloped with a “minimal set-up and dreamy confident tone”. Different instruments are weaved into the songs, however, no piece ever becomes cluttered. Melodies are trusted to speak for themselves and simplicity is key.
“It’s hard to remember being as satisfied by recorded music as I was when listening to that Samuel Vas-Y album. […] It feels like actively engaging with music again”*** His music has been reviewed and blogged by an interesting variety of people, from fencers to drag queen, Panti. It attracts people from all sorts of backgrounds, there is not 1 particular type at his concerts. Serge Gainsbourg, Devendra Banhart, Prince, Kila & Oki, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Elvis, Andre 3000 have all inspired Samuel and his music.
