In light of our recent virus, Whelan’s have asked if we could spare a mingin giblet for them this Wednesday 19th June for a Main Room Vroom Vroom. As we are heading to Glastonbury for our meta-art experience ‘THIS IS MINGLAND’ just a few days laysher, we might use this gig to write some songs.
We will also be flexing our fancy art, and (courageously) releasing some new little fellas into the pigpen.

Counter Intelligence is an Irish / Italian 4 piece Band pioneering the genre Transversal Rock. We met in Dublin, Ireland in 2017 and started rehearsing straight away with a view to recording our first Album. So the first year was spent writing and rehearsing all the songs for the Album, and the next year we spent recording it ourselves with our own equipment in various rehearsal rooms and houses around Dublin. It took a while because we all work day jobs (apart from Zar who is our Full-Time Musician). We met at least once a week and now our debut album “Adapt and Evolve” is finally available in all the major stores.
Headtrip Acoustic Project is a trio of two acoustic guitars, one cajon and various percussive elements.
Spawned out of busking in the streets of Dublin. It all started when guitarist and vocalist Alessandro Zangrando (aka Zar) and guitarist Giovanni Agostini met for the first time while busking in the streets of Dublin. The two guitar enthusiasts had a natural curiosity to discover what could happen if they mixed their main styles; Lap Tapping & Fingerstyle. As a result of this, the first time they organized a jam session together, they spontaneously composed their first song, which they titled ‘The Rising’. They kept rehearsing to both arrange covers in a very unique way and compose original music fusing their different styles. It wasn’t until April 2017 that percussionist Niccolò Matterazzo (aka Nik Martken) joined in during an experiment they did in Gorey, co. Wexford, where they went to see guitarist Shane Hennessy play a concert. The trio set up in the main street of the town and eloquently without having ever rehearsed as a trio started playing and improvising songs on the spot, it was then they realized there was a strong musical connection among them and the mix of two acoustic guitars plus one Cajon and small percussive elements met to create a unique atmospheric musical experience. Since then they’ve kept working hard on composing original music, busking, playing gigs and releasing their first EP of 5 songs called ‘The Rising’.

Timecop1983’s music is heavily inspired by music from the ’80s and is best described as romantic, cinematic and dreamy. There are many names for the genre but he always likes to label it as Synthwave or Dreamwave.

To Gaze Upon Us made their debut in April of 2015 in the Róisín Dubh in the run up to the Marriage Equality vote, and now they are back! Sharpe takes O’Connor to more upbeat areas, as she leads him to more sentimental and heartfelt places. Blending their individual styles, Katie’s melodic vocals beautifully complement Steven’s flamboyant sass to create a lush sound. The realiness is right here.
Both are established and strong vocalists, and when they come together, they bring an extra dose of character and pizazz. Comedic, colourful and occasionally off-the-cuff, this is a show within a gig. Just try and name a more iconic duo . . . I’ll wait. – Irish times
Steve Sharpe is undoubtedly one of Irelands best kept secrets. Steven has been preforming his own brand of out’n’proud music around Galway for the past few years and has made quite a name for himself on the thriving music scene. He has a veracious, witty, and soulful style which blends music, humour and storytelling. Sharpe has an eclectic mix of influences such as R&B, Folk, Rock, Spoken Word, Blues/Soul, Musical Theatre, and a number of Avant-Garde and Alternative artists which is clear in his unique approach to music and performance.
“Songwriter, storyteller, raconteur, guitarist, entertainer, and challenger of traditional gender and sexual roles, Steven Sharpe is a man deserving of the term ‘multi-talented’.” – Kernan Andrews
“The best Irish entertainer I’ve seen to date” – Simon McDonagh, TheThinAir.net
“One of Galways best kept secrets”– Body & Soul, HotPress.com
The intention was to become a midwife. But intention and desire collided for Katie O’Connor in 2011 on the streets of Galway, Ireland. Shortly after graduating, she put her qualification in the back pocket, shaved her head and moved to Berlin with just her guitar and her unrivalled voice. Staying true to herself matters much more than the security of staying within the lines of a normal lifestyle.
She is a vagabond. A dreamer. A story-teller. She doesn’t fit the mould. Reasons why she calls Galway home. Yet in true globetrotter fashion, she spends many weeks of the year on the road, telling her stories in clubs, bars, cafes, concert halls and on the street. It is easy to stop and listen because she is genuine with a palpable passion in her songs. Her fourth album ‘Fuel for Dreaming’ has been met with a very positive response from her listeners.
