Odd Socks Revival

Oddsocks Revival are a hardworking four piece funk-rock and blues band in their mid 20’s. These Dublin based Sligo musicians have been touring Ireland relentlessly since 2009, putting a unique and modern edge on to a classic 70’s rock/funk style. Their use of unusual four part vocal harmonies and four lead vocalists sets them apart, while songs that incorporate soulful yet cheeky hip-hop influenced hooks to a funked out classic rock sound is their niche.

Joao & Overseas

Overseas is a new-age, rock band formed in Dublin in 2011. The band took this name in reference with its multinational members’ origins and their unique eclectic and epic sound.

João Páris developed an intimate and deep musical personality throughout his teenage years in Portugal and his life experiences in Spain and Ireland. Inspired by Dublin’s multicultural and music scene he was the house pianist of several venues including the popular Café en Seine where he first performed his original work. He was joined by French musicians Rui Sanches (guitars) who was previously wandering around in Australia and later by Geoffrey Piesen (drums and percussion) an experienced drummer who had moved from Paris to Dublin to explore new paths. Finally, Brazilians Causio Marini (bass) and Alexandre Manenti (keyboards) brought an eclectic and solid background from the other side of the Atlantic to empower the powerful message crafted in Overseas music. Overseas evoke awareness and reflection as their songs combine deep melodies, rich arrangements and surprising progressions. The quintet has played in several venues including the Centre for Creative Practices, the Submarine and the Village. Currently, the five piece band is working on their EP to be released this Summer which will include some charismatic songs including “Closer” already recognized by their public to have an impressive identity and power. They are also planning concerts abroad including Portugal and France.

The Makings

The Makings formed in early 2011, when artists Barry Shock and Rick Burn teamed up to work on original material. Soon thereafter, while seeking a rhythm section, drummer Paddy Reynolds and bassist Johnny McGee joined the outfit, and shortly later the first demo arrived, followed by the first live performance at the Finn Fladh festival in Donegal. Coming from various musical backgrounds every member brought something unique to the table, with lots of influences ranging rom Pink Floyd to Gomez and from Kasabian to The Black Keys. The band played a variety of gigs throughout the remainder of 2011, while two music videos were commissioned by Jump Films. The beginning of 2012 have seen the departure of bassist Johnny McGee and the arrival of Shane Keeley. The Makings then resumed gigging around Dublin and made an appearance at 96fm. Having been currently working intensively in the studio the band are expecting to release their debut EP in the early summer 2012.
