Ken O’Duffy, performing under the moniker ‘The Citizen’, plays his first headline solo gig upstairs at Whelans on Friday June 1st, 2018. Ken has played in various bands since the mid-1980s. In the noughties Ken released three critically acclaimed albums with Dublin band Saville, and more recently in 2015 and 2016 he released Songs of Absolution and The Autumn House with The Citizens (featuring ex-members of Saville). Songs of Absolution was described by the Evening Herald as, “the Sistine Chapel of pop through a glass darkly”. Over the last couple of years Ken has been playing solo gigs, honing the songs which will appear on his first solo album recording for which will begin in July 2018.
