Tanjier are an upcoming Alt-pop three-piece based in Dublin. Taking influence from the likes of Jack Garratt and London Grammar, they have a sound that ‘feels both modern and yet, has all the elegance and grace of a bygone era’ (Dublinconcerts).

Their very first single Sunrise was shortlisted for the 2016 ‘Play the Picnic’ competition, which they went on to win through a public vote. Their packed show at the Cosby Tent at Electric Picnic as a result of the competition, was a highlight.

Although the band’s members are Irish, the story of their origin begins in Morocco. Ronan (Percussion and Bass) had been offered a chance to record an African Gospel group on the outskirts of Tangier, whilst Tommy (Keys & Vocals) and Mickey (Guitar & Vocals), at the same time, were offering their teaching services in a small rural school not too far away. The trio met when, during a school project, Ronan was drafted in to record the school choir. They quickly realised their common love of music and, not long after they returned home, Tanjier was formed.

They are currently in the studio working on their second EP due out later this year. In the meantime the playing a host of festivals and gigs all over Ireland.
