Fresh from their sold out headline show at The Workman’s Club Dublin only last month, State Lights have announced their biggest Dublin headline yet at Whelan’s Dublin on Saturday 5th October 2019.
Tickets on sale this Friday at 10am from Ticketmaster.
State Lights formed three years ago at BIMM College in Dublin, bonding over a shared interest in classic pop music and a common desire to write big stadium sized songs the guys decided to work on a music project. Members include singer Shobsy, guitarist Joe Regan, drummer Paul Ridgeway and bassist Noel Perry.
In 2018 the band released “Peace Will Come,” a single supported by 2FM, featured as the Homegrown Hero and Artist of the Week on Today FM, led to a performance on ‘The Late Late Show’ and tallied substantial airplay and support from KROQ Los Angeles, Radio X (UK) and a host of other International radio stations.
“Peace Will Come” laid the foundation for another track mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons). “Freedom” has influences ranging from Kygo to Coldplay and encourages people to break free from oppressive and toxic relationships and coming to terms with one’s sexuality. “Freedom” has picked up plays at KROQ Los Angeles, KNDD Seattle, KNRK Portland, KTCL Denver, KBZT San Diego, KCJK Kansas City, KKDO Sacramento, WRIF Detroit, KHTB Salt Lake City, WLKK Buffalo, KFRR Fresno and WZRH New Orleans.
2019 has arrived and so has their incredible new single “Lonely”, a lyrically important and melodically infectious pop hit, reminiscent of a modern day Queen!
State Lights are regarded as one of the best new acts in Ireland and last autumn they performed at Electric Picnic where they performed alongside The Kooks, St Vincent and Cigarettes after Sex on the prestigious Electric Arena Stage. In recent months they have supported The Fratellis, The Academic and the The Blizzards as they embark on the Summer Festival Circuit.
“Another slice of classy stadium-sized pop from State Lights” – Danny McElhinney, Daily Mail
“State Lights – Dublin band whose set is full of bracing, assured rock/pop tunes and who already have a sound which is aiming for stadiums and arenas. Frontman Shobsy’s voice is one of their key assets, but the musicianship underpinning the songs is also pretty striking at this early stage. The sound of a potentially very large crowd” – Jim Carroll, RTE
With powerhouse vocals that rival the enchanting beauty of Freddie Mercury and George Michael, “Freedom” is a joyous 80’s-coated ballad that will send your spirits soaring” – HotPress
“You get the feeling that this is the start of something big” – Buzz.ie
