Beloved Female-Fronted Indie Pop Band Saucy Monky Announces Irish Reunion Tour and new Single
Irish indie pop fans have a good reason to smile. After a decade absence from the tour circuit in Ireland, Saucy Monky returns with a short run of all-acoustic gigs. – April 25, 2017
Indie pop favorites Saucy Monky have seen their fair share of success, with extensive tours and radio play in both Ireland and the US. Their infectious hooks and two singer sound have carried them in front of audiences around the world. With a Triple A top 40 single under their belts, two licensing deals, placements in TV and film, festival shows with The Cure, Wilco, Metric, the B-52’s, Pink! and Westlife, to name a few, the real topper was the girl’s tumultuous romantic split on the eve of their quintessential album release, Turbulence. Lead singers and songwriters, Dublin-born Annmarie Cullen and the American Cynthia Catania, can not wait to return to the birthplace of their success!
To mark the tenth year anniversary since they’ve played on Irish soil, the band has announced dates in West Cork (June 2) and Dublin (June 4), respectively. The shows will be all-acoustic affairs with founding members Annmarie, Cynthia, plus original drummer Adam Marcello on percussion. They’ll share the stage with their beautiful and talented friends, well known Irish singer-songwriter Naimee Coleman and Grey’s Anatomy soundtrack favorite, Sylvie Lewis.
The icing on the cake for SM fans, and further evidence the girl’s chemistry is as hot and spicy as ever, they will be releasing a new single and video in honor of the shows. Check iTunes and Spotify soon, for the re-work of fan and live show favorite “F’in Love”.
Whelan’s marked Saucy Monky’s Irish debut in 2003 when the original band crossed the pond in support of their EP, Celebrity Trash. First embraced by Pet Sound’s DJ Tom Dunne and the well respected Hot Press Magazine, what quickly followed were multiple European tours, magazine covers & features, radio tours and appearances on The Late Late Show, Oxegen and O2 In the Park. There was also the secret celebration of the romantic relationship between the two lead singers. Undercover and gay – only a close knit few knew the real deal.
“I can’t believe it’s been ten years since we’ve played in Ireland. I’m so excited to make music with all these wonderful friends again” says Cynthia. “What a gift.”
