RÍONA SALLY HARTMAN
RÍONA SALLY HARTMAN
+ guest Ross Breen
“A cutting silhouette of a voice, Ríona Sally Hartman trips through songs with an ease of grace found in the best of offbeat female artists….With hints of Laura Marling in her approach to song making, the lyrics come to the fore while the melody remains deceptively simple and strong.”
Le Cool, Hugh Torpey
Since the launch of her debut CD, Sealegs, at a sold out performance in Whelan’s last year Ríona Sally Hartman has earned herself a loyal fanbase and has become known for the eclecticism of her influences and her story-telling lyrical style. She’s been compared to Laura Marling, Tori Amos and Julie Feeney, and all filtered through her own unique pop aesthetic. On October 20th she’ll be returning to Whelan’s for an extra special gig: not only will she be debuting some brand new material, and be joined by her band of stellar musicians, but it’s also her birthday!
Expect ‘enchanting sweet vocals’, ‘dark passionate lyrics’, birthday cake and excellent musicianship from her charismatic live band including:
Cormac Obrien on double bass
Bonnie Stewart on drums/backing vocals
Paddy Groenland on guitar
Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh on viola/backing vocals
