OTHERKIN ANNOUNCE WHELAN’S HEADLINE
Longitude bound rockers line up Dublin Show
Otherkin will take their rapidly evolving recipe of uproarious riffs to the main room of Whelan’s on Friday 8th April 2016. Things continue to develop at breakneck speed for the Dublin quartet.
Influential Dutch mag 3Voor12 have just annointed them as one of the top five acts from January’s Eurosonic festival. Debut EP – the 201 saw singles AY AY and Feel It picking up spins from Annie Mac and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 with more playlist love coming from Radio X in the UK. Ace videos for both singles also saw significant screen time on MTV Rocks.
The band have also been honing their live show into a lean and mean affair with high profile slots at the Longitude, Electric Picnic & Reading And Leeds festivals along with an extensive UK tour and home grown shows with the likes of ASH, Parquet Courts and Palma Violets. A towering TV performance on the upcoming Other Voices TV show will beam their riotous breed of Sturm und Drang into front rooms across the country.
Some words of praise from folks who know about these things:
Clash: ‘Matching feral grunge riffs to uproarious, hugely infectious songwriting, new single ‘Ay Ay’ is nothing less than a total banger. The sound of a young band truly coming into their own.’
DublinConcerts.ie: ‘Rising stars Otherkin marked their first Longitude appearance with a set that will not be forgotten easily by those in attendance. They’re increasingly confident and they should be. Their music is excellent.’
State magazine: ‘walking the line between accessibility and credibility with ease… Otherkin feel very much like the complete package already.’
The Last Mixed Tape: ‘A high water mark for Otherkin. Showcasing a more uncompromising aspect of their music, demonstrating a considered approach that separates Otherkin from their peers.’
Artrocker (UK): ‘A must see band who bring optimistic rock back to the clubs.’
