Fresh from a hugely successful three week run at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, multi-award winning comedian Danny O’ Brien brings his brand new solo show ‘Ah Jaysus!’ back home to Dublin. In the past year Danny has gigged for Freemasons, attempted to coax Cubans out of communism, moved in with his girlfriend’s Yankee candles, bought a dead mans car and continues to try and defend himself from a wave of relentless wedding invites whilst also battling his cooking show addiction! His new show also recounts his premature mid-life crisis brought on by a severe case of ‘ the early thirties’. He still drives a Skoda.
Roll of Thunder, Hear him Cry..
Danny has been performing stand-up comedy for over seven years, performing regularly at top comedy clubs and festivals in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the US. With his chatty, anecdotal comedy, this raconteur will draw in an audience and bring on the big laughs with ease.
He performed his first solo show at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival to rave reviews. That year he also scooped the title of “Dublin’s Funniest Comedian” at the prestigious Stand Up For FM104.
Danny went on to beat 16 of Ireland’s best up-and-coming acts and take the coveted Toilet Duck Award at Tedfest 2013 (the now-famous Father Ted celebration).
He Returned to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 with his second solo show ‘Back To The Hills!’ and had a hugely successful sold-out run.
Danny has also provided support for such acts as Ardal O’Hanlon, Colin Murphy, Brendon Burns, and Wilson Dixon to name but a few. In 2013, Danny took part in Irish TV show The RTE Comedy Awards and released his first comedy album on iTunes as part of the Irish Underground Comedy Show.
An accomplished compere, Danny is the resident host of The Comedy Crunch in Dublin, one of Ireland’s busiest and most successful comedy clubs. This year alone Danny has performed at The Forbidden Fruit Festival, Longitude Festival, The Vodafone Comedy Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is also performing his solo show at both Leicester and Nottingham Comedy Festivals in the UK early next year. The future is bright for one of Ireland’s busiest comedians!
