Angie McMahon is quickly gathering a reputation for moving audiences with her soulful ruminations on life, love and takeaway food.

Angie’s honest songwriting and romantic melodies cover the full dynamic spectrum, shifting between gravelly intimacy and pounding rock.

Angie pours it all out on stage, drawing inspiration from artists like Bruce Springsteen, Lianne La Havas and Tom Waits.

In the recent months of her solo career Angie has secured supports with Father John Misty, The Jezabels, Gretta Ray, The Teskey Brothers, Alex Lahey, Meg Mac, The Shins, Alanis Morissette and Angus & Julia Stone.

Angie has also been booked on NYE on the Hill, the Australian Open, Secret Garden Festival and was the successful winner of the triple j Unearthed prize to open Melbourne’s Laneway Festival.

Angie sold out her debut headline hometown shows upon releasing her first single ‘Slow Mover’, which was recorded in Melbourne with John Castle.

“Slow Mover is a song about putting energy into things that are worthwhile, and taking plenty of time to get to a good place. I’d spent a lot of time pining after love, but at this point my head was shifting, and what I actually wanted and needed was to pursue my music career,” says Angie about the writing process.

‘Slow Mover’ has since clocked over 3 million plays on Spotify, debuted at #4 on the Australian Independent Singles AIR charts and received support from Australian blogs, publications, regional and community radio, as well as high rotation on triple j, triple j Unearthed, SYN and FBi.

Angie McMahon has finished writing her debut album and is currently recording it in the studio with producer Alexander O’Gorman.

Angie McMahon plays her debut Irish show upstairs at Whelans on the 20th June. Tickets €12 on sale now from Ticketmaster Ireland
