“Many years ago in a small village in the south of the Low Countries, a tousle haired nine year old Dutch boy picked up a guitar…Christof’s journey had begun…”

Hailing from the Lowlands of Holland, singer songwriter Christof composes contemporary folk music from the heart. Inspired in early childhood by the classical singing of his mother and the guitarpickings of his father, Christof has spent the last number of years perfecting his trade (and his collection of stories) as a travelling troubadour across Europe and further afield. He draws his inspiration from the people he meets and the places he lives from the damp cobbled streets of Galway on Ireland’s Atlantic coast to the bustle and life of London Town.

In late 2007, Christof was lured by the bohemian bright lights and the smoky winding cobblestoned late nights of Galway in Ireland’s wild Atlantic west . The city received him warmly and he was soon dubbed “Galway’s Adopted Son”. His journey brought him from street corners busking for locals to touring and playing with many local and international folk luminaries. In 2009 he released his debut EP ‘Springtime’ which featured legendary bass player Trevor Hutchinson (The Waterboys, Lúnasa, Eric Bibb) and drummer Dave Hingerty (Josh Ritter, The Frames, Swell Season), The Staves and Gerry Paul (Gráda).

A period of relentless touring across Europe followed, including dates in London, Manchester, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Zurich. This culminated with the release in late 2011 of the ‘Honey Tears’ EP a melodic, whistlestop tour of new material with collaborators Wim van den Hout (Cello and Double Bass), Paul Gerrits (Bass Tuba) and Miriam Rademakers (Piano). Honey Tears found Christof reaching new audiences in Australia and New Zealand (where he supported Tim O’Brien on his tour) also taking in festival appearances at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and Blue Mountains Folk Festival and tour dates in Germany, Ireland and the UK.

THE LOVE’S GLORY EP

2012 saw Christof relocate to London and commence work on his forthcoming third EP ‘ Love’s Glory’ which is due for release on Bluestack Records on 11th October 2013. Recorded in Fulham, London in summer 2013, the three tracks of Love’s Glory features Christof on guitar and vocals, Andrew Smith (double bass, electric guitars, nylon string guitar, backing vocals and mandolin), Edwin Ireland (cello, bowed double bass and backing vocals) and Victoria Smith (drums). It was coproduced by the band and Erik Mikalsen of Bowerman Studios London. The adventures of the tousled haired lad from the low countries continues…
