PAPER AEROPLANES

– Upstairs –

Originally from the wild shores of West Wales, Sarah Howells and Richard Llewellyn concoct intricate, heartfelt songs about the things that really matter in life. Names such as The Civil Wars, Laura Marling, Suzanne Vega and Fleetwood Mac are often mentioned when describing Paper Aeroplanes but most would agree that the band have a sound completely of their own. Folk infused alternative pop songs are topped off with Sarah’s truly beautiful, spine-tingling voice, which could break even the hardest of hearts. “An elixir for any weary soul that needs a little healing”.

With an acclaimed album and extensive European tour under their belts and radio support from the likes of Bob Harris, Dermot O’Leary, Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, Paper Aeroplanes bring their soaring talent to Ireland for the very first time.

Sarah and Richard of Paper Aeroplanes grew up 30 miles from each other along the coast of West Wales, in houses you could see the sea from. They spent their formative years walking on cold beaches and misty mountains and finding records in charity shops – a world, and two hour drive, away from the nearest music scene.

Last year alone they played over one hundred dates, selling out venues across the UK and Germany with their stunning concoction of dream-folk-pop. In May this year the band released Little Letters (on the Navigator label) an album of evocative, honest and personal songs, to a barrage of acclaim from critics and fans alike.

“A truly beautiful album of perfect pop vignettes – affirmation if it is needed of the mounting acclaim that surrounds them… a band on the edge of greatness” – Album of the month – Folk Radio

“As soon as you’ve identified one highlight, another comes along. There are no duds here, and the album as a whole has a beautifully judged balance. Little Letters is a very fine record. It may come to be regarded as a classic. “ – North West Folk

“If you have two ears and a heart, you’ll love this album.” – For Folks Sake

“Gorgeous” – Lauren Laverne
