21 year old Dublin singer songwriter Gavin James began to play guitar aged eight. After leaving secondary school, James gigged around Dublin’s Temple Bar and quickly began getting himself heard, an audience was growing. While working on his live technique, his confidence was growing also, ultimately leading him to write his own tracks. “When I started some were quite funny, in a not particularly good way!”, says Gavin. “However, after trial and error I became more comfortable with the process and my life experiences growing also meant I had more to write about.”

Gavin’s talent comes from his mother side of the family. His great, grandparents were both famous Irish opera singers and had their own album released in the early 1900’s. Since signing his record deal on his 21st Birthday, Gavin has been busy! Selling out his first headline show at The Grand Social Dublin was followed by guesting for Ryan Sheridan at The Olympia. Gavin supported Ingrid Michaelson at her sell out Irish & UK tour in November, supported Nouvelle Vague on their Irish tour in August and in December was invited to guest open for Marina & the Diamonds at the Olympia Theatre.

In the spring of 2012, Gavin was invited to perform at this years Worldwide Radio Summit in LA, which ultimately led to him signing his record deal with Believe Recordings, Gavin now joins Believe’s growing roster including fellow Irish singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow.

He also performed at Indiependence Festival & Electric Picnic together with performing at the Hard Working Class Hero Festival, with State.ie reviewing his performance as………..”His voice is absolutely astounding”….”One of the highlights of the weekend by a mile”.

His “Say Hello” EP was released on Nov 2nd and entered the Irish iTunes album chart at No.1! “Say Hello” continues to climb the Irish radio charts top 30 making him the most played new Irish artist on Irish radio.

Already Gavin is highlighted as one to watch by Other Voices, State.ie and Hotpress Magazine! 2013 will see the focus outside of Ireland as his EP will be released in the UK during the first quarter of the year and the completion of his debut album which will be released later in the year.

He has already started this year by selling out his headline Whelan’s headline show on Friday Feb 8th in record time! Gavin is also looking forward to opening for John Murry at The Borderline, London on 29th January.
