THE MINUTES

– DJ SET –

DOORS 11PM / €5 ENTRY

Dublin’s hardest working rock band The Minutes have just announced details of an exclusive DJ Set at Whelan’s on Thursday 23rd August. Tickets priced €5 are on-sale now.

The Minutes put 2011 through it’s paces…They played over 100 shows, stormed the pits of festivals across Ireland and the UK including Reading and Leeds Festivals, Sea Sessions, Castlepalooza, Indiependence, Oxegen and Electric Picnic. They added sell out shows in both the The Workman’s Club and Whelan’s, secret fan gigs and a rooftop performance to their list. They supported the one and only Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds for his first ever solo live show, which took place at The Olympia. They supported Flogging Molly on their 23-date European tour – and then went on to complete their first headline tour of Germany. They also won Best Group Video for ‘Black Keys’ and Best Live Video for ‘IMTOD’ at 2011 IMTV Awards. Phew! Still with us?

2012 has seen the rock’n’rollers moving full steam ahead with no sign of slowing down. They unleashed ‘Heartbreaker’, the third single to be taken from their debut album on the public on February 10th. They sold out their biggest headline show to date in The Academy on Saturday February 11th. They blew up the pits of the prestigious Eurosonic and SXSW festivals – and added a string of festival dates across Europe to their bow. They’ve recently completed their first UK headline tour and gave Germany a good seeing to. They’re hitting the Download Festival on June 10th. They’ll be playing Westport Festival on June 23rd before gracing the Main Stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday June 24th. They are special guests to The Stone Roses at Phoenix Park on July 5th and you can catch them headlining a night at Live At Leopardstown on July 26th. They’ve been announced to play Tennent’s Vital – alongside The Black Keys and Foo Fighters – whilst also playing a string of their own dates across Ireland and pleeeenty more festival dates across Europe.

They now release the fourth single from Marcata called Gold. Gold is a prime example of The Minutes doing what they do best – a 3 minute rampant garage rock ‘n’ roll belter with elements of the blues and gospel rearing their heads.
