THE WOOD BURNING SAVAGES are just as happy up to their elbows in chainsaws and motor oil as they are blowing the roof off your local club. Having already left countless festival audiences (including Glastonbury 2014) hungover on the joys of life and craving more, The Wood Burning Savages serve their own cocktail of wit and ferocity in copious amounts for all to enjoy. Conceived in a farmhouse garage in Derry, the band have since adopted a nomadic lifestyle and now live on a diet of substandard coffee, stale sandwiches and menthol lozenges. They’ve come to enjoy this state of affairs and have ignored all medical advice, intending to continue on this path to its logical end. “Derry/Londonderry’s The Wood Burning Savages are The Most Amazing Live band I Have Seen All Year – bar none. End of.” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music. “One of my favourite tracks of 2014 tracks so far…We just sat there and we watched the guys absolutely SLAY IT to a load of people in the BBC Introducing stage” – DJ Phil Taggart, BBC Radio 1, on the band’s song ‘America’ and their performance at Glastonbury 2014. RUDYTRIXX : Formed in early 2012 five college friends got together to begin writing, performing and recording their own original music. RudyTrixX are an exciting, young, up-and-coming Irish Alterntive/Indie band. Consisting of Callan Rudy Qualtar (vocals), Sean Leonard (guitar), Johnny McGuiness (Bass), Sean McManamon (Guitar) and Emmet Harigan (Drums), RudyTrixX’s musical style draws from an eclectic mix of influences, including Two Door Cinema Club, Alt-J, Foals and Plan B. Dublin based singer-songwriter, Mike D’Alton opens the night with his own brand of arresting folk. Come on down to Whelan’s for a night of awesome original music!
