Dance till you drop on Hallowe’en night with a raw and raucous performance from Dublin’s very own Stomptown Brass, a nine-piece brass band spawned from the New Orleans tradition of street-stomping horn players. Barely a year old, the band has barely had time to catch its breath as it stormed through the Irish festival calendar with knockout performances at Longitude, Indiependence, Groove and five unforgettable shows at Electric Picnic.
Unusually for a brass band, Stomptown Brass are committed to focusing on original material, composed by trombone player James O’Leary. As well as appearing in many of the Dublin gig-goers favourite venues over the last year, the band has always made time to go back to where it all began – playing on the street. If you’ve never been to a street party with a tuba before, that’s one more thing to do before you die!
Stomptown Brass will be releasing their first EP in February 2016 and will be doing a small tour around the country in advance of its release in the Sugar Club on February 19th.
