After two smashing sold out shows at Camp last month, after which the Evening Standard wrote that they could “easily become a national obsession” in their 4/5 live review, and a stand out performance at Latitude, POLIÇA announce the release of their third single, ‘Wandering Star’, taken from one of the “best albums of the year so far” (The Guardian, Drowned In Sound), the addictive Give You The Ghost.
POLIÇA have rapidly become one of the years most talked about bands after a whirlwind SXSW. Drowned In Sound named them band of the festival and they were favourites for many others including The Times and The Telegraph. Recent single ‘Dark Star’ was a radio hit, not only playlisted at Radio 1 but getting ‘Record Of The Week’ accolades from Huw Stephens and Fearne Cotton (as well as Zane Lowe’s ‘Album of the Week’), A listed at 6 Music and playlisted at Xfm.
The dreamy ‘Wandering Star’, already one of the NME’s 20 best songs of the year so far, features Mike Noyce of Bon Iver on backing vocals and is as deliciously funk laden as it is hypnotic, with their now signature ratatat drums, propelling the lush arrangements and slinky bass. The moving video features magical dance sequences (choreographed by Yemi AD who works with Kanye West) with strange fairy-like characters, as they seemingly bring a frail woman back to life: http://youtu.be/yX4iIPlwS5c
Having received glowing reviews all round for their recent sojourn in the UK, POLIÇA will be supporting Bon Iver on his European tour and have announced a full headline tour for November.
