LAURA SHEERAN

Pål Moddi Knutsev comes from the island of Senja in Northern Norway, where he grew up in the fishing village Medby. He made his musical debut at five on the local radio station (his mother was the show host), learned to play the trumpet at nine and started rapping at fourteen. When he finished high school at nineteen he found himself with a handful of songs that he didn’t know what to do with. Half a year later he found my mother’s old accordion underneath the stairs. That’s when he decided to try to make music for real.

His first album, Floriography, was released in February 2010 and was nominated for two Norwegian Grammies (Spellemannsprisen) the year after. He received a huge grant from a-ha, toured with Angus and Julia Stone, played festivals he’d only dreamt about and just to round it up, sang on the first concert ever to be held on the King’s castle in Oslo.
