LIR’s reputation as a legendary live act was built through Concerts in the capital and particularly in Whelan’s that became unmissable for many.
Following the release of their debut album ‘Magico Magico’ and the hit single ‘In a Day’, LIR signed to US label ‘WAR’ and based themselves in the States for a number of years, touring North America relentlessly with ‘Magico’ and the follow-up album ‘Nest’ to rave reviews across the USA.
Settling back in Ireland once again, LIR scored another hit single ‘There are more things’, the theme tune to the hugely successful Irish Feature film ‘I went down’. In recent years, the band members have pursued other projects but have usually reconvened for a LIR concert on an annual basis. Feedback from fans at shows encouraged the band that an official live album release would fully portray the band in all their glory. And how true it was.
Lir’s 3rd album titled ‘LIR LIVE’ (1969 Records), showcases the bands signature tunes from their earliest days, through to their time in the States and most importantly to previously unreleased material that is sure to attract new and old fans alike.
Following the very successful release of the Shimmy Marcus directed documentary film ‘Good Cake Bad Cake’, on the bands career, the band are delighted to announce their first show in 18 months and their first concert in Whelan’s for 5 years.
