LEADERS OF MEN
LEADERS OF MEN
plus guest
All familiar faces from various bands in the Tallaght music scene, Leaders of Men were born in 2011 when the five-piece joined forces for the first time. Early demos led to a publishing deal with Evolving Music (Dublin), and were also heard by legendary music manager Jazz Summers (Wham!, The Verve, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, The Charlatans) who then co-signed the band to his own publishing label and has been providing inspiration and advice ever since.
Further success followed when the band’s track “Fear” generated airplay without the aid of a radio plugger or label. “Made To Be Brave” proved to be favourite amongst the band’s loyal fan-base, trending on Twitter and generating over 5,000 views on the day of video release.
Thrilling audiences with their sold out shows, Leaders of Men are regulars in venues across the length and breadth of the country including the Set Theatre, Kilkenny; Cyprus Avenue, Cork and The Limelight, Belfast. With attention-grabbing performances at festivals such as Dublin’s Longitude and Electric Picnic; Cork’s Indiependence (main stage) and the Trinity Ball, Leaders of Men have become synonymous with their captivating, no-frills-attached live show.
“For Want Of A Better Word” is the band’s first official single release, taken from the “Alexander House” EP. Fans were given a taster last November with the unveiling of “At Ease” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZbKXJUSVS4). The title has a personal resonance for the group; many of the band’s early songs were composed in the Alexander House apartments in Tallaght, where several members of the band were living at the time. It is a reminder to them of where they came from and how far they have progressed since those early days.
With a debut album pencilled in for release at the end of the year, 2014 is set to be an electrifying time for Leaders of Men.
