HEY TROUBADOUR
Born Optimistic presents
HEY TROUBADOUR
BUSK: Crampton Court, 2pm
GIG: Whelan’s, 8pm
_ Main Venue _
Hey Troubadour is a celebration of the song born in a city of song.
Dublin is a city that shows great respect to great songwriters, whether from here or elsewhere.
We pride ourselves on the attention we will give to people who have a way with words.
Two things have been the epicentre of song in Dublin these past decades – Busking and Whelan’s.
Hey Troubadour brings both of these together for one magical day on Saturday September 15th. We have a busk at 2pm in Crampton Court and this gig in Whelan’s at 8.
Gracing that hallowed Whelan’s stage will be Glen Hansard, Mark Geary, David Keenan, Mongoose, Ailbhe Reddy, Stephen James Smith, Sam Kavanagh (Lalala Choir), Larry Beau, Mark Matthew Palmer, Junior Brother, Ailie., Natalya O’Flaherty, Harry Hoban and our MC Eve Darcy.
These amazing artists are all donating their incredible skills and time for free to enable all of the proceeds raised to go to Aidlink, a super cool little charity who fund community led projects as their executive director Anne Cleary explains: “Aidlink are overjoyed to be the benefactors of Hey Troubadour. The DIY self-starter attitude of the artists on this bill like Glen Hansard completely reflects the local community groups we work with such as the Girl Child Network in Kenya. Glen has never taken no for an answer and has stayed true to his core ethos which is just what we look for in the strong partnerships we build with grassroots groups in Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana.”
