Seo Linn are back with their powerful new album ‘Anuas’ set for release this summer. Fresh from shows in Australia and Italy, the band are taking their songs to the stage in Whelan’s, Dublin on the 10th July.
Multi-award winning contemporary folk group, Seo Linn, formed in 2013 while living and working together in the heart of Conamara. Their unique fusion of traditional and contemporary music, and their electric live show, have earned them thousands of followers and brought them all over the world, performing and headlining festivals like the Milwaukee Irish Fest in the US, Groundswell Music Festival in Australia. Bustofolk and Celtic Wave in Italy to name a few.
The group has amassed millions of views and listens on their various social media channels. Their spine-tingling rendition of ‘Óró ‘Sé do Bheatha Abhaile’ is the most watched version of the song on YouTube with a staggering 7 million views.
Their current single, ‘Siúil a Rún’ from their forthcoming album, was recorded in Black Mountain Studios by the acclaimed producer, James Darkin (Rihanna, Gavin James, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh). The video was recorded in the unique 500 year old ‘Hole in the Wall’ pub in Kilkenny.
The bilingual group has had a whirlwind few years. They performed in Croke Park, The Aviva, The 3Arena and headlined their own show in Vicar Street in the lead up and aftermath of their debut album, ‘Solas’. They wrote and recorded the official FAI song for Euro 2016, ‘The Irish Roar’ which was deemed ‘a bit of a belter’ by RTÉ’s John Byrne. Seo Linn also wrote and performed ‘Music Makers’ which featured as the finale of the much acclaimed RTÉ Centenary concert commemorating 100 years since the 1916 Rising, in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, broadcast to over a million viewers live.
‘Anuas’ follows on from their 2019 release of a 5 track EP (with Irish and English versions) entitled ‘Marcas sa gCoill’/’Marcus in the Wood’ containing what some consider their genre-defining songs ‘Buy Me Time’/’Bain an Glas’ and ‘Darkness Shines a Light’/’Soilsiú an Lae’.
