Féileacán Bán, (White butterfly) Nursing service, which was developed to provide care and support from the point of diagnosis and throughout the dementia journey, represents hope and transformation for both the dementia patients and their carers.
This bespoke nursing service moves away from the status quo and provides a patient and family-centred service in the community setting. The multi-element pathway structure delivers post-diagnostic dementia support services such as community clinics, crisis/community home visits, LivDem (a psychotherapeutic educational programme), a brain gym home programme, peer engagement opportunities through a memory lounge, alongside family carer advice and support networks with telephone and virtual consultation.
The funds raised will be used to purchase and provide much needed cognitive resources to those who have a diagnosis of dementia and their families as well as other materials to help them to understand and cope with the diagnosis and give them hope and practical support as they embark on their journey together.
