Whelan’s Upstairs

Molly O’Mahony spent the last decade writing and performing with art-folk group Mongoose, who were a fixture of the Irish music scene for many years from their formation in 2012.

She returned to her home place of West Cork in March of 2020. Against the backdrop of the unfolding pandemic, she began work on her debut solo collection. During lockdown, she bounced many ideas off her two musician siblings Matilda & Fiachra, and collaborated on arranging a number of covers with them. This time and these collaborations greatly informed her own songs, which were recorded over the summer of 2021 at Black Mountain Studio, which her siblings played a crucial role in arranging and playing on.

Molly released two singles over the latter half of last year, Remember To Be Brave & Brother Blue. Her debut solo album The House of David is due for release in autumn of this year.
