Two Stories Combine for an Irish Tour and Release of a Timeless Classic.
One of Ireland’s legendary female vocalists, Leslie Dowdall teams up with young artist and multi-award winning songwriter Mark Caplice for Irish tour and a thoughtfully reimagined interpretation of Joni Mitchell classic “Both Sides Now”.
While Dowdall has toured with bands including U2, Simple Minds, Bob Dylan, and The Pretenders, Mark Caplice has been on the rise in recent years having collaborated with the GRAMMYs as well as writing and producing tracks for Netflix, Eurovision and multiple artists all over the world. Whilst both artists are in different stages of their career, their stories now combine to breathe fresh life and perspective into Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now”.
Leslie Dowdall first came to prominence as lead vocalist with celtic rock band, In Tua Nua. The band recorded four albums and headlined tours in the USA, Holland, Italy, Germany, as well as in the UK and Ireland. As a solo artist Leslie has enjoyed critical acclaim. Hit single, “Wonderful Thing” (“No Guilt, No Guile”) was chosen as the anthem for both the RTE National Lottery and National Daffodil Day ad campaigns. Her album “Out There” featured the hit single “Freedom”, plus her stunning version of Jimi Hendrix classic, “Angel”.
Earlier this year, Mark Caplice released his debut EP, “Brighter Side Of Sorrow” — a six-track collection which prompted Hotpress to remark that “his [Mark’s] ability to turn grief and heartache into art is a gift.” Most recently, Hotpress also premiered the brilliant video for EP anthem “All In Your Head”. The track features Elbow’s Rick Jupp on drums while the video was shot at the singer-songwriter’s old primary school.
Just before the close of 2022, Mark’s music caught the attention of The Recording Academy / GRAMMYs who invited him to be a featured guest on their Reimagined at Home series — a performance enjoyed by Fleetwood Mac’s guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, as well as members of The Lumineers and Sam Fender’s band.
“Both Sides Now” will be released on April 26th.
