Laoise Leahy will perform an intimate show at Lulu’s Jazz Club in Little Whelan’s, spanning a range of original and interpreted music with the inimitable Johnny Taylor Trio consis1ng of Johnny Taylor (piano), Barry Donohue (bass) & Dominic Mullan (drums)

Hailed as one of Ireland’s finest jazz vocal talents; performer, songwriter and educator Laoise Leahy brings a unique blend of classic, contemporary and original jazz music to her live shows. Laoise is currently supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and is Jazz Ar1st in Residence 2023 at Cork Opera House where she brings unique monthly sold out shows to the Green Room venue.

Laoise is a dynamic and versa1le singer, a regular soloist with large ensembles such as The RTE Concert Orchestra, The New Irish Jazz Orchestra and many years experience as a session singer with the likes of Bon Iver, Damon Albarn, Damien Rice, Jack O’ Rourke & Gilbert O’Sullivan while regularly fron1ng her own projects and ensembles for fes1vals, concerts and recordings. Laoise recently released her debut single ‘Girl’ on all major platforms which was warmly received and broadcast on BBC & RTE radio. Her composi1on and improvisa1on techniques incorporate a life1me influence of jazz, soul, electronic, pop and blues music. Laoise Leahy along with The Johnny Taylor Trio are sure to wow all in attendance.

THE JOHNNY TAYLOR TRIO

Johnny Taylor (piano)

One of the finest jazz pianists and most in demand musicians on the Irish music scene, Johnny regularly performs na;onally and interna;onally at major fes;vals, theatres and concert halls. London born, Johnny has a background in classical music, he then studied both in Trinity College Dublin and as a scholarship recipient of Berklee College of Music in Boston. Having returned to Dublin to play jazz full ;me, he currently leads his own piano trio as well as playing regularly in the groups of several notable Irish musicians, including Mary Coughlan, Nigel Mooney, Linley Hamilton, Aoife Doyle and Loah.

Barry Donohue (Bass; upright & electric)

Barry is an Irish double bassist and electric bass guitarist who has studied with the likes of renowned classical double bassist Thierry Barbé, contemporary jazz guitarist Nelson Veras, and composer/
saxophonist Stephane Payen. Donohue has had his studies and performance career supported by Music Network and The Arts Council of Ireland. In session, Barry has performed and recorded with some of Ireland’s biggest names, including Mary Coughlan, Chris Guilfoyle (Umbra) & Sean Carpio and with international stars such as Nils Wogram (DE), Tal Cohen (US) & Michael Piolet. In recent years he has served as bandleader of ‘Plaza Real’ and brought together his own group ‘Satori’ who met at the IASJ meeting (International Association of Schools of Jazz) in 2011 who have recorded their eagerly anticipated debut
album.

Dominic Mullan (Drums)

Wicklow based Dominic is a true stalwart of the Irish music scene. With an impressive CV of national and international associated acts, Dom is in continuous demand on both recording and live performance duties ranging from jazz greats such as Georgie Fame, Liane Carroll, Taylor Eigs;, Louis Stewart and Jim Mullen to contemporary commercial artists like Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) & Andrea Corr.
