HarpBop, a thrilling and innovative jazz quartet, is set to captivate audiences with their distinctive sound and imaginative style.

HarpBop breaks new ground with its unique combination of instruments, blending them in a complementary and eclectic manner. Featuring Sorcha Mc Cague on the harp, Yuzuha O Halloran on flute and alto sax, Eoin O Halloran on bass, and Hugh Denman on drums, this quartet seamlessly merges their diverse musical backgrounds to create an enchanting experience for jazz enthusiasts and music lovers alike.

This much-anticipated performance heralds the introduction of the harp, Ireland’s cherished national instrument, to the vibrant Irish jazz scene. HarpBop pays homage to the legendary Detroit-born harpist Dorothy Ashby (1932-1986), a true luminary in the world of jazz harp, by showcasing some of her original compositions. Prepare to be enthralled as HarpBop weaves the rich tapestry of Ashby’s legacy into their own inspired renditions.

Not content with resting solely on tradition, HarpBop also explores new horizons by presenting fresh arrangements of tunes from acclaimed artists spanning a wide range of styles. From the iconic Lee Morgan to the timeless Ray Noble, their performance promises to be a dynamic journey through the annals of jazz history, infused with HarpBop’s contemporary vision.
