Matthew O’Connell is a Dublin-based jazz guitarist and composer. He is an emerging artist on the Irish jazz scene and has played part in many groups and projects as a leader and sideman. O’Connell draws inspiration from blues, bebop and contemporary jazz, and his compositions and playing are highly reflective of these influences. For this event, he is joined by three of Ireland’s finest jazz musicians Steve Welsh (Saxophone) Aidan Gray (Bass) and Michael McCarthy (Drums). The group will perform compositions by O’Connell, alongside arrangements of classic jazz standards.
