ILLEGAL SMILE
A CELEBRATION OF JOHN PRINE
plus support
BRIAN HOUSTON
Sun 3rd Apr 2022
Whelan’s Main Venue
When John Prine passed away in April 2020 due to Covid 19 the world was bereft at the passing of a multi grammy winning artist widely revered as one of the most gifted American singer songwriters of our time with the ability to channel humour and heartbreak into his observations on the human condition in all its characteristics from the cradle to the grave.
Illegal Smile (Ireland) are regarded as the foremost aficionados of John Prine’s music in the UK and Europe. They do not set out to look or even sound like John Prine rather they skilfully reproduce his songs with the utmost integrity, sincerity and with the musical skill listeners have come to associate with John’s songs and musicianship. https://illegalsmile.co.uk
Their appearance in Whelan’s follows an incredible show in The Grand Social, Dublin in January and several other sell out shows including Belfast’s premier live music venue The Deers Head Music Hall.
Enjoy two hours of the very best of John Prine’s songs in the company of Illegal Smile including the classics Sam Stone, Hello in There, Angel From Montgomery and Lake Marie.
The magnificent Brian Houston, Belfast will open this superb show. Brian has more than 25 albums to his credit and has shared a stage with Van Morrison, Elvis Costello and Robert Plant.
