Whelan’s Upstairs • Thur 3rd August 2023

A deviant group of individuals who musically collide to bring you post-rock melodies decorated with dreamy vocals and 90s like synths. Creating an almost nostalgic, yet otherworldly feel to their works.

The band came together under the initiative of lead singer Grace Dempsey who has been performing under the alias Flublah for the last year. After having some success with past endeavours, playing Forest Festival Emo, featuring on Midlands 103 and playing sold out gigs in Pharmacia Limerick it wasn’t hard to catch the attention of her now band mates – bassist and producer Nicolaas Walle, guitarists Aaron Kennedy and James Shannon, drummer Jack Lennon and vocalist/keys player Zoé Piater.

With each member of the band hailing from various countries around the world it’s no surprise that they create a soundscape that gives a familiar but new feel. From infectious vocal hooks and endearing harmonies , to its upbeat 90s synth-pop sounds and gut wrenching guitar fuzz. There isn’t a an organism in the venue left un-shook when they are finished a gig.

That was especially the case after their debut gig supporting Onion Boys as the reformed band Flublah for the sold out Phizz Festival Dublin. Since then they have played The grand Social Dublin for the acclaimed ladies First night – bringing women and Non-Binary people to the front of the music industry – and have future gig plans of supporting Drying Weather band and their own Headliner in Whelan’s Upstairs.

Flublah will be playing their headline show in Whelan’s Upstairs venue this August 3rd.

Support from the acclaimed modular synth band Andromeda I.
