DOGPOND

“Hanging Out With A-Tray” Single Launch

plus support

Aaron Anthony & Dylan Byrne

Whelan’s Upstairs • Sat 13th July 2024

DOGPOND is the latest musical venture for former rock and roll sensations The Hot Sprockets & Punch Face Champions. Bringing together the best elements of Indie, Garage, Rock, Blues, Soul, Folk, and lo-fi dream Pop, to create a sound that is truly fresh and unique, yet soothingly nostalgic.

‘HANGING OUT WITH A-TRAY’ is a homage to independent festivals, the people, the cultures, the arts, and the influences that shaped them. The single features Tim’s raspy, raw, soulful vocals, classic blues guitar licks, bass that can make your grandmother groove, Franky’s signature ‘Diamond 600’ organ playing, a solid driving back beat by “sTe-Rex”, and guest backing vocals by good friend, and long-time collaborator, Amy Kelly a.k.a ANDI music.

DOGPOND write, record, produce, and mix everything themselves, between their rehearsal room, a friend’s house, Franky’s living room, and Ste’ Kitchen.

Their third single ‘HANGING OUT WITH A-TRAY’ is out on all platforms July 4th 2024. They also release a live demo called ‘Same’, as sort of a B-Side. You can listen to ‘Same’ here
Tim explains the meaning behind the song ‘Hanging out with A-Tray’:
“It’s sort of an ode to Knockanstockan the festival, to the people that made it happen, to the bands that played it, to the people that went to it, and to the friends I made along the way.

Festival culture is a powerful thing, it’s rooted in our DNA. Some might say it’s a necessity! Humans have been holding festivals for thousands of years. A chance to meet up with people of all kind, to celebrate and share our love of the arts. What a beautiful thing; is the arts! An expression of the mind. It is how humanity has evolved. Through sharing the arts, we bond, and through bonding, we evolve.

My brothers A-Tray, and Johnny Boom, my sister Leah, my mother Brona, my father “Bad Jim”, my nieces, my cousins, my extended family, were all at the festival and took part in the festivities, and we all bonded more through this festival; with each other and with others. My brother A-Tray ended up running the Dimestore tent at it. The festival even built a little well on site in memory of our friend Matt who passed away. It became who we were and what we represented. Lovers of culture!

It influenced us and made us evolve, and for this I will be forever grateful to them.”
