DOGPOND release their first single “KILNAMANAGH BLUES” on THU Nov 23rd, and have a Single Launch the following night, FRI Nov 24th, Upstairs in Whelans, Dublin. The music video for “Kilnamanagh Blues” will be out the week before the launch.
DOGPOND is the latest musical venture for former rock and roll sensations The Hot Sprockets & Punch Face Champions. Bringing together the best elements of Indie, Garage, Rock, Blues, Soul, Folk, and lo-fi dream Pop, to
create a sound that is truly fresh and unique, yet soothingly nostalgic.
“Kilnamanagh Blues” is a song that was written at a time when we were living in lockdown with travel restrictions. Written on a Hammond Organ in Franky’s music room in Blanchardstown, it is an ode to the happy memories growing up as a child in Kilnamanagh. Inspired by country, folk, and blues artists singing lovesongs about their own hometowns, but with a sound that is reminiscent of a lo-fi Beatles or Beach Boys song. “Kilnamanagh Blues” is a tribute to Kilnamanagh, the people, and the influences that have shaped Franky, as a person, as a musician, and as an artist.
DOGPOND are all about being creative and fully went down the DIY approach with this release. The single was recorded, engineered and mixed by their drummer Ste Ryan, between their rehearsal room, a friend’s house, and Franky’s living room. Ste also filmed and edited their music video, and Franky does all the artwork for the band.
The song was mastered by Pete Maher over in the UK. Years of experience under their belt, these chart-topping musicians have honed their craft and perfected their sound to become one of the most influential underground bands in the industry.
