ELKAE (Laura Keane) is an emerging electronic soul/pop artist, songwriter and producer from Dublin who has quickly grown herself to be a popular contributor to the Irish music scene.
Having started piano and singing lessons at the age of 5, Laura continued her studies in BIMM and went on to become ‘ELKAE’ after developing a keen interest in producing. She combines bass and synth driven beats with ambient production and funky rhythmic hooks to consume the listener and immerse them in her world.
After launching in Summer 2018, Laura Keane, aka ELKAE played at Electric Picnic and released her debut single, ‘Sold’, which made to the Spotify playlist “A Breath of Fresh Eire” and has since accumulated over 19k streams on Spotify.
ELKAE played to a sold out crowd at her debut headline in The Sound House and was SPIN103.8’s “One To Watch” on Plan B and received national and international radio play (Spin 103.8, 98fm, fm104, 2fm, 2xm, Bang on Berlin & more). She has been featured on the likes of Hot Press, Nialler9, The Irish Times, Golden Plec Remy, IMRO, The Last Mixed Tape, and was a top 10 finalist in the IMRO Christy Hennessy Songwriting competition in 2018.
ELKAE went on to release her second single, “I Feel” on the 24th of April 2019. “I Feel” was featured on the above music blogs, radio stations and also got her first International coverage in the US (TrippleX music blog) and the UK (DiscoverNu) & was shared by La Belle Musique (France 2.2m total followers). “I Feel” was also added to new Irish radio stations “PLAY IRISH” ‘A List’ and named 1 of 10 must listen to tracks among artists such as The Cranberries, Gavin James, Le Boom, AE MAK, Loah and Mango x MathMan.
ELKAE was featured in the The Irish Times and Hot Press, and named “an exciting new force in Irish Music.”. This Summer, ELKAE secured festival slots at Independence 2019, We’ve only Just Begun and Bloom 2019.
Elkae will play upstairs at Whelan’s on Saturday 1st February 2020 with tickets from €12.80 on sale Wednesday 30th October (9am)
