‘Autonomous i’ have recently found themselves at the center of attention following an appearanceon TV3’s The Apprentice on Monday 10th October. Their single ‘Car Activate’, produced by one of Ireland’s most sought after producers Ken McHugh, was selected to feature on a list comprising 30 upcoming Irish artists. From this list the two competing teams on The Apprentice were asked to compile a 10 track CD as part of their task. Autonomous i had their song chosen by both teams and were asked to select the team whom they felt presented the best package. Fortunately, they selected the winning CD entitled ‘Backstage Pass’ and this compilation disk was distributed nationwide with the Irish Daily Mail on Saturday 15th October. Their song was also featured for the TV ad campaign to promote the CD launch.
SixOverSix formed in 2004 under the original name, Paper Tank. Paper Tank made it to the final of the Irish competition of Emergenza, a nation-wide and Europe-wide music competition. They entered their first music video into an American competition and won. In September 2010 Paper Tank under-went a re-formation in their line up as their old drummer left. With new drummer, Colin Kelly, they decided to change their name as well and have a fresh start. With a new start it has had a positive influence on their song writing and live performance. The current line up is as follows:
Niall Daly – lead guitar and vocals, Darragh Ryan (a.k.a. Twiggy) – bass and backing vocals, Rob O’Leary – guitar and backing vocals, Colin Kelly – drums and backing vocals.
The Crossfire are one to watch on Garageland, formed in 2010, this band are part of the wave of young acts sweeping the nation. Only barely legal at their own show, these young guys are already drawing attention from several different parts of the music media.
