RONAN FRIEL
http://www.facebook.com/RonanFrielMusichttp://www.instagram.com/ronanfrielmusic
Ronan Friel is a singer-songwriter from Fanad, Donegal. He has begun to build a steady following in the local scene in Dublin since relocating in 2017, some high points include winning the DU Music Singer-Songwriter Competition in 2018 and playing a set in the Ruby Sessions in Doyle’s Bar the same year. In 2019, Ronan focused on recording new material and is now beginning the process of releasing this new wave of music as singles at the start of 2020. Ronan writes music that stirs the soul, it’s sometimes nostalgic and emotional and sometimes up-tempo and made for dancing. His first single, ‘Dance in the Rain’ has now amassed almost 5,000 plays on Spotify and his future releases are set to grow his audience further.

LAST ORDERS
https://www.facebook.com/wearelastorders/https://www.instagram.com/wearelastorders/
Last Orders are a band who treat every sound at their disposal like it belongs in their music. Lead by Dillon Cotter, and featuring Ryan O’Neill and Zara Finn. Having produced and recorded their own music, they’ve created a sound space uniquely their own and they are ready to break out into the Dublin music scene under this new project.
Dillon Cotter is an accomplished writer and director. In 2019, he wrote and directed a musical comedy based on the story of Oisín i dTír na nÓg with an original score, playing for three nights to sold out audiences. He also directed an adaptation of Spring Awakening in 2019, which also sold out each of its three showings. He has also played a supporting role for artists in the past, mainly appearing as a keys player with Tadhg Williams. Dillon is not a stranger to writing large projects, and with the new banner of Last Orders, finally has an avenue to release his original music.
Last Orders will launch in 2020 with their first single release on January 31st 2020.

Unfortunately due to the global pandemic of the Corona virus and restrictions in place by the Irish government, we unfortunately have to cancel our remaining tour dates for March and early April. We will hopefully be rescheduling these dates for later in the year. All refunds on ticket sales will be available from your place of purchase. Follow us on social media or visit www.foxjaw.ie for further information regarding our rescheduled shows.
As many would know, being an independent band can be financially straining and a lot of time and money went into the release and promotion of our new album ‘Breathe In The Strange’, which we now will not get to tour with and promote straight away. So If you were hoping to grab a copy of our album and/or a T-shirt at one of our upcoming shows, you still can as they are all available from our merch store on our website.
Support independent Irish music and we hope to see you soon.

D. CULLEN
‘The Rising Tide EP’ OUT NOW
plus support^ Upstairs ^
D. Cullen releases a new EP for the new decade in the shape of “The Rising Tide EP” on his own DCullenMusic label on 31 January.
The EP comprises the title track together with an acoustic version of the same as well as a vivid, technicolour version of James Maddock’s “Hollow Love”. Following last year’s radio hit, “Alright”, “The Rising Tide” offers a different side to Cullen’s writing and performance in the form of a heart-wrenching piano and strings-driven homily to troubled, love-tortured souls.
I live near a lovely little beach in Shankill, Dublin, and The Rising Tide’s lyrics came from an evening walk down there when the sea was particularly wild. I wrote the lyrics then and there and quickly ran home to put some music to it. We ended up filming the music video on that very same beach, about 2 and a half years after writing the song, so we got a lovely full circle moment out of it!
Hollow Love is a cover from an amazing artist called James Maddock. I discovered the song on a podcast called Underwater Sunshine (co-hosted by Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz), and became completely obsessed with it. It’s lyrically brilliant, with the most exciting guitar part, and has become a huge staple of my live set.
Thank you James for the brilliant tune!
The acoustic version of The Rising Tide came from an impromptu jam. I was messing around with a different tuning (Open G for any guitar nerds out there) and started playing around with this song. Sinead, my bassist/Backing vocalist/overall-partner-in-crime, heard it and insisted that we record the song with all those lovely, open tuning chords. As per usual, her instinct was right, and it’s lovely to give the song a new context.
“The Rising Tide” comes to life in wind-torn, sea-soaked monochrome at:

D. Cullen is a 25 year old singer and multi-instrumentalist with a love for life, melody and properly crafted songs.
Having served his time writing and playing, with some success, both solo and in various indie bands in his mid to late teens he began to knuckle down in 2018 to writing songs that reflected, properly, his core taste in music (Foo Fighters, Ben Folds, Villagers, Elbow amongst many others) as well as a maturity in writing that clearly belies his years.
Courtesy of studio time with Producers Boo Hewerdine and Chris Pepper in the leafy glades of Cambridgeshire, the 2019 single “Alright” got the ball rolling properly (after an initial toe-dipping exercise with “My Face”, complete with mesmerising video). Its good vibes, punchy horns and rousing chorus garnered an instant reaction from Irish national radio and TV affording him playlists and a debut appearance (complete with choir) on the Late Late Show.
========================
You can see D. Cullen and his band play it and a host of other tunes at the following shows:
Sat 28 March – Whelans (Upstairs), Dublin
Thurs 2 April – Winthrop Avenue, Cork
Sat 4 April – Roisin Dubh (Upstairs), Galway

‘House That The Trees Reclaimed’ is the 2nd studio album from Garret Baker & The Random Nouns, a musical project by Dubliner Baker, his half French, half Irish partner, Laura Mallett, Dublin guitarist Christopher Barry and German cellist Frieda Freytag. An album of songs written in a stone house on the river Shannon, that explores local murder ballads, mother and baby homes and the dissolute Dublin music scene of old.
Past reviews:
“The debut album from this Irish based singer songwriter. Features 12 rather beautifully crafted haunting folk songs with a slightly jazzy twist from time to time.” – Road Records
“..reminded me of the first Young Marble Giants LP with a few nods to Nico and the Velvet Underground thrown in…a threadbare chic.” – Folkbuddy blog.

If ever there was a band that personified the phrase “good things come to those who wait,” it’s Massive Wagons. Whilst the Lancaster hard rock quintet have been active for a decade now, 2018 was the year the band truly made their mark on the music industry, touring with the likes of Status Quo, Dead Daisies and The Wildhearts, and landing at No. 16 in the UK Top 20 with their fourth LP, ‘Full Nelson’.
Massive Wagons have come a long way since their humble beginnings as a pub band. Whilst they’ve maintained a keen work ethic and steady release schedule since day one (chalking up an impressive discography with 2011 debut ‘Fire It Up’, 2014’s ‘Fight The System’ and 2016’s ‘Welcome To the World’), the thought that they’d one day be sitting pretty in the charts alongside their childhood heroes seemed like a far-off pipe dream, even just 12 months ago.
Fast forward to 2019, and not only have Massive Wagons managed to get numerous gigs in said local rock pub, but their ‘Full Nelson’ artwork has also been immortalised in mural form on the side of the building – much to the local council’s chagrin, who demanded it was taken down. As testament to the band’s loyal and growing fan base however, a petition to keep the mural garnered 10,000 signatures in a matter of hours.
Massive Wagons will play Whelan’s on Tuesday August 4th 2020 with tickets from €17 on sale Friday Jan 17th @ 10am
