INNI-K

Thur, 01/10/2020 Socially distanced 88 capacity seated show. Whelan’s Main Venue — — — — — We’re delighted to have Inni K back in Whelan’s on Thur 1st Sept and although we’re still social distancing we’re going try to make it as comfortable as possible. The show will be all seated and limited to 88 people. Tickets are on sale on now from Whelanslive.com. Named by RTÉ.ie as “one of ten fierce women defining Irish culture”, Dublin-based singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Inni-K (Eithne Ní Chatháin) has received consistent praise for her fresh style of indie-folk since the 2015 release of her acclaimed album ‘The King has Two Horse’s Ears’. Inni-K’s second album ‘The Hare & the Line’ was released 1 March 2019 to great critical acclaim. She sold out the Irish Arts Centre, New York; was an Official Showcase performer at Folk Alliance International music conference in Montréal as part of her U.S. and Canada tour dates; and has toured extensively throughout Ireland with dates also in continental Europe & the UK since the release of the album. She was nominated for RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards in 2019, in the Best Traditional Track category for ‘Póirste Béil’ off ‘The Hare & the Line’. Inni-K’s music draws on her extensive background in folk and traditional Irish music, even as she ventures into new musical territories. Her music combines ethereal vocals with deft musicianship, evocative lyrics (bilingual at times), and a unique approach to song-writing. Having shared stages with various renowned musicians including Malian kora master Toumani Diabaté, drummer Jeff Ballard, Wallis Bird, Glen Hansard, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Lisa Hannigan, and many more, Inni-K is becoming a well-established presence in Irish music. “This year’s The Hare & the Line reconfirms her status as one of Ireland’s most exciting artists” The Irish Times 06.07.19 “Blending Irish trad with modern folk, the singer delivers 10 exquisite tunes (some in Irish), with her ethereal vocals as spellbinding as ever…entirely unique” Hotpress “enthralling and menacing” The Irish Times “A superb blend of rootsy folk, trad and jazz sounds tied together by the artist’s immaculate vocals” – Nialler9 “This record is worth enjoying and appreciating as an excellent reflection of modern Irish music from one of Ireland’s most exciting young musicians” – Folk Radio UK
