Suzanne Savage is a Belfast-born songwriter, violinist and performer. She is delighted to be back performing in Dublin’s heart of music: Whelan’s.
From touring Europe and U.S. as Principle Soprano Soloist with Riverdance, to a scholarship at Italian FABRICA MUSICA institute, she has made music internationally, including with: Paul Brady (band member since 2011), Elenor McEvoy, Roseanne Cash, Van Morrison, Jimmy Cobb, Ernie Watts Quartet, Gary Husband and emerging talent such as David Lyttle (UK), Markus Strothmann (GER), the Matteo Addabbo Organ Trio (IT), and premiered new music of composers Linda Buckley, Garth McGonaghie, Simon Mawhinney and Oscar and Emmy winner David Shire. As a well respected session vocalist for high profile acts across genres, she brings many influences to her writing.
Suzanne’s new single “True Love” written with ‘Ceithre Cinn’ (with Matt McGinn, Ciaran Lavery and Finnian Kelleher) was released April 25th, and was selected for BBC Radio Ulster’s “Where Music Matters” playlist for May, and is listed in the top ten most played songs on RTE Radio for May 2022, spending three weeks on the ‘RTE Recommends’ list.

reviews:
“She’s a natural born star, the leading vocal talent on show tonight..the song belongs to Savage as her voice, full of Eastern modulation, has you in a wartime dancehall one minute and beside a campfire the next.” Pat Carty, Hot Press 5/04/20 (The Music Of Leonard Cohen with RTE CO)
‘Belfast vocalist and songwriter Suzanne Savage is nothing if not adaptable as her career to date attests. She first emerged as lead soprano with Riverdance and is sought after as a backing vocalist by stars like Paul Brady, Eleanor McEvoy and Van Morrison among many others, but Savage’s own musical projects are altogether more adventurous. In particular, her Savage Five matches the singer’s supple, crystalline voice with a talented international string quartet, moving freely in that beyond- boundaries space where jazz meets classical meets contemporary song- writing’ Cormac Larkin, Irish Times (Oct 2019)
‘One of Ireland’s hidden music heroes’ Lisa Flavelle, Belfast Telegraph
‘cool singer-songwriter… sublime violin playing… earning a respectable place near the modern soul of Jill Scott or Angie Stone. ‘ Stuart Bailie, BBC N.Ireland
..recalls Kate Bush at her most florid..sassy cabaret to finger-clicking soul to deliciously macabre creation with gothic undertones..this upbeat album aligns Suzanne with artists such as Camille O ́Sullivan and Julie Feeny ‘ – Irish Times
‘I love this album – the voice, the arrangements, brilliant ‘ – Paul Brady, Songwriter
