Singular Artists proudly present Singer-songwriter Padraig Jack live at Whelans (Up) on 26th November. Tickets €18.00 on sale this Friday at 10am.
Singer-songwriter Padraig Jack released his stunning single ‘Making Sand’ on 13th May. With lyrics in both Irish and English, and haunting whistle melodies, ‘Making Sand’ is a metaphor for the passing of time and attempts to capture a sense of the awesome historical and cultural importance of the islands while acknowledging that the inhabitants are ‘just making sand out here’ and only passing through. The accompanying video, shot in black and white on the Islands on one weekend last summer, intersperses portraits of Islanders from children to seniors, with familiar island sights like creels, dry stone walls, and wild rugged landscapes.
A native of the Islands, Padraig Jack is from a musical family and will run an music show residency on the islands this summer in the marquee at Joe Watty’s Bar. Padraig is proudly bilingual and writes music in both Irish and English. With influences from James Taylor and The Eagles to Van Morrison and Shane McGowan, Padraig appreciates strong songwriting with a distinct point of view.
So far in 2022, Padraig has joined Dubliner Damien Dempsey as support on a sold-out tour of Ireland. He has written a song for and performed with Irish music legends Foster and Allen, this concert is due for broadcast on RTÉ One this autumn. On release of his latest single ‘Making Sand’ the single has topped the RTE Radio Airplay charts and led to invitations to perform at festivals & concerts as well as interviews on RTE Radio’s flagship show ‘Sunday with Miriam’ and performance on Virgin Media TV ‘Ireland AM’.
