Michael McGovern is a singer / songwriter from Glasgow.
His debut album Highfield Suite (Cauldron Music) captures his signature sound, with fingerpicking guitars, wide vocal harmony, and heartfelt lyrics; a nod to some of his influences like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
The album received critical acclaim in both the UK and in Ireland, including BBC Radio Scotland and RTE Lyric album of the week, 8.5/10 Hot Press Magazine and 5/5 Irish Music Magazine. Michael was endorsed by BBC Introducing, and by folk music legend Paul Brady; “I love it, what an unexpected gem”.
Since its release, Michael joined Mary Black on tour of Ireland, and has spent 2022 touring in the UK and Europe.
Michael is already announced for some major festivals next year, including Cambridge Folk Festival, and is busy working on a new album.
His brand new single, “I’m a Physician” is out now.
