It’s been a busy few months for Warsaw Radio with appearances at the UK Great Escape Festival, supporting Irish singer-songwriter Mick Flannery on his UK tour and a mind blowing performance at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s in London. Their demo E.P, released in early 2013, received extensive radio play across the UK and Ireland. The groups members hail from Ireland, California and the UK and they count Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Frames and The Waterboys amongst their influences. They will release their debut album in 2014.
Reviews:
“One of the most hotly-tipped new bands in Brighton. Fronted by Brían McNamara, the alt-folk four piece produce melody-heavy acoustic guitar sounds with smooth vocals and a deep, soulful style” – www.brightonnoise.co.uk
“Poetic lyrics knitted by ardent vocals conjure an enchantment that’s difficult to forget” – www.sqmagazine.co.uk
Warsaw Radio will be joined on tour by:
DELA LUPA
Della Lupa is a UK, Brighton based act created by Steph Brown whose native origins are a mixture of Italian and Vietnamese. This mixed heritage has driven Della Lupa’s unique sound, which encompasses Latino based tempos, Jazz melodies influenced by Asiatic style scales and a Folky lyrical structure. Della Lupa’s debut EP, ‘Of The She Wolf’ was produced by Jag Jago (The Maccabees, Ghost of A Thousand, Cave Painting). ‘Of the She Wolf’ was released in late June 2013. The supporting shows in “London’s legendary music venues” such as The Troubador and The Bedford are establishing the band as a powerful live act.
KOKOPELLI
In Hopi mythology, Kokopelli was the God of fertility, often depicted with a humpback and playing the flute. Thankfully, neither of the ladies that make up the band Kokopelli fit such a description. Bo Lucas and Hayleigh King concentrate on sultry, seductive interplay between guitar and vocals. Weeping slide guitar by Hayleigh perfectly compliments the country tinged blues that exude from songstress Bo. Absolutely worth catching at one of their many gigs around London and Brighton, and not to be missed in smaller, intimate venues where the passion of the songs really comes alive.
