V98 (Darragh Geoghegan – vocals, Conor Healy – lead guitar, Craig Geoghegan – bass guitar and Richie O’Brien – drums) are an alternative indie band making their presence felt on the Irish music landscape.

With energetic live performances and a catalog of songs that veers from digestible melodic, hook laden anthems to raw and bristling foot stompers, the Dublin four piece are equipped with everything needed to take 2019 by storm.

The group started in January of 2018, when Darragh, Conor and Richie decided to turn their regular musical get-together’s into something more meaningful. A hurriedly put together gig in the Bello Bar was so successful that it became obvious that there was something worth pursuing, and the three longtime friends began writing and rehearsing songs for their new project. It was not until Craig, a cousin of Darragh’s who had moved to Ireland in May, joined the band as a bass player though, that the group really began to assume their identity and find the sound that defines them today.

The latter half of 2018 brought with it a string of gigs, with V98 becoming the fastest and highest ever selling band under the popular Garage Gigs promotion, headlining slots at the Sound House and the Button Factory.

Soon after they linked up with Dan Doherty of Darklands Audio (Fontaines D.C., Vulpynes, Galants) to record their debut singles, the first of which – “Dublin” – was released in February 2019.

Press Quotes

“Wildly charismatic front-man Darragh Geoghegan, songs and melodies dangling out of every pocket” Derek Foley – Buzz.ie

“With a punchy guitar-driven sound not heard since Indie’s heyday in the 00s, V98’s raw recorded material is bolstered by their tight live performances.” Eric Davidson – District Magazine
