TIR NA NOG NEW ALBUM … THE DARK DANCE
Their first studio release in 40 years!
Tir na nOg, the duo formed by Sonny Condell and Leo O’Kelly in 1970, release their new album, The Dark Dance, in May. This is their first studio album in over 40 years.
To coincide with the release the duo will be touring in UK, with some Irish shows to follow. They launch the album at The Half Moon, Putney on 24 May, where they headline a five band prog/psych bill, from the Fruits de Mer Records stable. FdM will be releasing a vinyl only, individually lathe turned single, Sympathetic Love/Mariner Blues(live) to celebrate the launch.
Tir na nOg released a limited edition vinyl EP, I Have Known Love, last year on FdM Records, and these four songs will feature on the new album.
In the early 70s Tir na nOg recorded 3 albums on the Chrysalis label. They toured the world, headlining their own shows, and sharing the bill with, among many others, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, T.Rex, Roxy Music and The Who. They were strongly championed by John Peel, for whom they played many renowned John Peel Sessions. The Dark Dance will be released on Tir na nOg Records.

This May, Old Hannah are set to release their second EP – Iron and Wood – a bold and transformative follow up to their debut EP Irish Boys. This band no longer sits in a country-roots genre alone. With Rian Trench of Solar Bears and Leo Dresden producing – and Steve Wickham of the Waterboys (amongst others) making guest appearances – Iron and Wood displays a leap in creativity and calibre which establishes Old Hannah as a new force on the Irish music scene.
The Iron and Wood EP presents five strikingly diverse tracks. From the driving pace of “West” and the thumping rhythm of “Iron and Wood” – to the soaring intensity of “Oh My Love” – the melodies are characterised by sophisticated songwriting and captivating vocal arrangements, with themes of love and journeying resonating throughout.
