Whelan’s announce a series of special Streamed Shows this Christmas from Dec 15th until New Years Eve.

Whelan’s are delighted to announce a series of shows which will be streamed from Whelan’s over the Christmas Period. They will feature a host of well known acts, including some from Whelan’s usual Christmas Calendar. The programme reflects the Covid reality we have been stuck in since we closed our doors in early March. The streamed shows are only possible due to the funding provided by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht Sport and Media from the Live Performance Support Scheme and we wish to thank them for the support.

The series will culminate in a special show on New Years Eve when the Academic join us in wishing good riddance to what has been an annus horribilis, especially those in the music industry.

One of the good things to come out of 2020 is the emergence of rising star CMAT whose Very Nice Christmas show will be broadcast on Dec 17th. It features guest performances from Pillow Queens, Junior Brother, Lemoncello and a host of others.

Dublin four piece The Riptide Movement, who have just released their brand new single ‘Turn On The Lights’, take to the stage on Friday the 18th.

Christmas Eve features a host of well known acts playing their favourite Christmas songs. It’s sure to be a special show, this will be in aid of the Peter McVerry Trust.

Christmas in Whelan’s wouldn’t be the same without a Something Happens show. Even Covid 19 couldn’t stop that. Tom Dunne and the gang will be belting out their most loved songs.

Smith’s tribute act These Charming Men show us why they have such a cult following on the 27th. And we can enjoy all the Morrissey and Smiths classics without the guilt :).

Other highlights include Brian Deady (20th), Paddy Casey (28th), Turn (29th) and some great new music from Toshin (15th) and Dea Matrona (30th)
