Whelan’s Upstairs

“Officially. Emphatically. Undeniably.” – Ross Hepenstall, Yorkshire Evening Post

“That’s Skylights… sounding really good” – John Kennedy, Radio X

“The indie-rockers from York produce outstanding performances fizzing with energy and conviction throughout and have their loyal fans longing for more” – The Yorkshire Evening Post

Infusing brit pop and rock influences from the likes of Oasis, Courteeners and The Verve, indie rock quartet Skylights are building a palpable buzz in the North. Following on from their debut single, ‘YRA’, which was featured on Leeds United 100-year anniversary video, Skylights have sold out headline shows at Belgrave music hall (350 capacity) and The Wardrobe (450 capacity) in Leeds.

Their most recent single ‘Enemies’ clinically evokes the cathartic lyrical presence of Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie which led it to be picked up by Radio X’s new music guru John Kennedy. They then went on to perform it live on Soccer AM, as well as taking part in a sofa interview alongside Josh Warrington. ‘Enemies’ hit the Official Physical Singles Charts, peaking at number 2 behind Fontaines D.C.

In 2021, Skylights will headline Leeds University Styles, a show which sold out 1000 tickets in less than 10 days. They will also support Shed Seven at The Piece Hall in Halifax, make their first trip into Scotland and perform at festivals like Bingley Weekender and Live At Leeds.
