Dublin Does Friday’s returns to drag you shaking and bopping into Whelan’s front bar next Friday 12th October at 5pm. Entertainment will be provided by the very up-and-coming and quite wonderful Róisín Ó and her band and a bopshop DJ set from BeepBeep. There will also be complimentary finger food and the odd game or two with some free drinks to be won so whether you’re a Whelan’s regular or just curious to see what all the fuss is about then pop in next Friday to kickstart your weekend with a bang.
Róisín O is an Irish female singer/songwriter who has been making big waves with her impressive live show, coupling amazing vocals and well-crafted songwriting. Now 22 years of age, she has been writing songs since she was sixteen, and has recently been asked to support names such as The Coronas, Imelda May, Mary Black and Robert Cray and most recently Brad Paisley.
She has added musicians Alan Tully (guitars and vocals), Darren O’Reilly (drums and vocals), and Brian Murphy (bass and unwillingly vocals) to her act, giving her unique sound an acoustic-rock feel. In March 2011 she launched her new EP ‘The Thrill’ to a resounding reception from a full house at Whelan’s. The first track ‘Drifting’ was chosen for the latest ‘Woman’s Heart Now’ compilation, alongside Lisa Hannigan, Wallis Bird, Cathy Davey and many more..
