Róisín O has announced her first big hometown headline show of the year in Whelan’s on Friday, October 18th.
She will be returning fresh from her debut US shows this summer and will be debuting a new live set, along with some more big announcements to make ahead of the show.
Róisín O recently performed for ‘Glaoch ThePresident’s Call’, as part of a special Saint Patrick’s Day 2013 broadcast on RTÉ from Áras an Uachtaráin, alongside other Irish performers such as Bono, Christy Moore,Glen Hansard, Imelda May, The Script, and Lisa Hannigan. The programme receiving ratings of over 900,000viewers.
Fans will have a chance to catch up with Roisin and her Band’s highly polished live set that has impressed anyone who saw them support both The Coronas in The O2 Dublin, and Lionel Richie in The O2 Dublin & the Odyssey Arena, Belfast.
Róisín O is one of the most promising new artists to emerge from the competitive Irish music scene in recent times. In a relatively short timespan she has shared both stage and studio with some of Ireland’s leading artists, showing an expressive voice full of warmth and depth, and proved that combining a unique songwriting style with a commitment to hard work is still the best way to progress.
Róisín O released her debut album ‘The Secret Life of Blue’ in September 2012, and went straight into the Irish Official Album charts at number 21.
‘The Secret Life of Blue’ was recorded in the Studio Black Box in France with Grammy Award-winning producer David Odlum (The Frames, Gemma Hayes, Josh Ritter).
“She’s an engaging front-woman who looks as if she was born to perform” – Anne Sexton, Hot Press
“Her spectacularly limber voice is just the start – Miss O possesses a keen ear for a summery refrain…. Throw in a heart-stopping live show and we’ve got everything we look for in an Irish rose.” – Celine Murphy, Hot Press ‘Ones to watch 2012′
“Here We Go, the ballsy lead single from her forthcoming debut album. With Grammy-winning producer Dave Odlum pressing all the important buttons, Ms. O has come up with a stirring, confident piece of folk pop that instantly brings to mind the event which inspired it – none other than our very own Electric Picnic” – Hot Press review (31 May, 2012)
Strictly over 18′s, I.D. may be required.
