Men Of Twenty, formerly know as Animal Beats, are four Limerick natives pushing an edgy indie pop/rock sound. Now based in Dublin, Men Of Twenty are embarking on their latest single release entitled ‘Down By Your Side’, a powerful song fit to tear the roof off a stadium, or enthrall a small crowd just inches between them and the stage.
The versatility of the band shows a unique method of song writing, as Conor McCarthy, the drummer, is an accomplished pianist, adding his own style of piano playing to the mix, as well as tightly rehearsed, alternative drumming. All the while, John McDonnell lays the foundation of their tracks with his simple rhythmic guitar playing, relatable lyrics and a voice that carries both tender and edgy tendencies that can only come from a truly emotional performance. In addition, both Daniel Clarke (lead guitar) and Paul McCarthy (bass) bring their own style of playing to the songwriting. Melodic bass lines go against the traditional stream in some areas, as Daniel adds his own finesse experimenting with different sounds and tones with pedals and effects.
