“Bursting onto the indie scene…refreshing, creatively upbeat, toe-tappingly fun.” – Earmilk
“The Leeds quartet have refined a sound that infuses Britpop with a little Vampire Weekend-style globalism.” – Entertainment Weekly (USA)
Marsicans are a young indie band from Leeds whose driving, harmony-laden sound and exciting live shows are earning them a reputation as an emerging force in British music. They will play Whelans, 7th September 2018. Tickets €13 inclusive of booking fee, on sale Friday at 9am.
Marsicans’ upwards trajectory over the last 12 months has been relentless: signing to LAB Records and X-ray Touring, filming a live session at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale studios, their singles making the BBC Radio 1 weekly playlist, high-profile Spotify and Apple Music playlists, and the opening credits of E4’s Made In Chelsea.
After touring with Clean Cut Kid, Jaws and Minnesota’s Hippo Campus, Marsicans’ biggest UK headline tour took place in March this year. Shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and the 700-capacity Leeds Church all sold out in advance. This summer sees a jam-packed festival schedule for the band with performances at Barn On The Farm, Neverworld, Kendal Calling and many more, culminating in high-profile slots on the Radio 1 stage at Reading & Leeds Festival.
New single Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend) is released Friday 22 June on LAB Records.
