Don’t miss ROLLAND MERGUEZ, a 13 piece French brass band, that take over Whelan’s for 4 nights between Sat 20th and Wed 24th August – all free entry!
1 singer, 3 drummers, 1 sousaphone, 4 trumpets, 2 trombones and 2 saxophones. Playing funk and soul covers (Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, etc.) and even some reggae music.
Fruit of a terrestrial conflagration that took place in the shadow of Jupiter and Neptune nadir, Rolland merguez was founded by thirteen pioneers with the sole intention to seek the harmony ultimate, the groove tetravalent carbon and the mystic beat.
Copper Group to techie trend fanfare microphone, merguez Rolland has thirteen musicians practicing in Paris. Their repertoire? A tasty combination of New Orleans music, from jazz / funk / soul revisited the coppery sauce. Four trumpets are the messengers of hell. His trombones , two entangled particles. His pair of saxophones knows raise the temperature despite his passion cold atoms. Three percussionists are Aztec priests willingly turning their boxes sacrificial altars. His sousaphone , a low hypersonic box. His singer , an interstellar diva.
Celestial Band, fundamentally flexitarienne, and vice versa, merguez Rolland takes you on a journey. A long and beautiful journey.
